I’ve made many a Bloody Mary convert with this recipe, which doesn’t have the thick, tomato-y consistency of many standard Mary mixes, but is quite light and citrusy. We take the ingredients beach camping every summer and mix up a mid-morning batch. The trick is fresh lime juice, which is my #1 cocktail essential mixer.
A fresh lime cut in six wedges
Clamato—spicy or regular, depending on your preference
A nice, clean midrange vodka, like Absolut
Fresh cracked pepper
Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
In a tall glass, pour two fingers height of vodka (about 1 ½ ounces)
Squeeze two lime wedges over it, then drop the rinds in.
Fill the glass with ice.
Top with Clamato and optional 2-3 dashes Worcestershire Sauce.
Crack some pepper over the top.
*If you want to make up a whole pitcher, the ratio of Clamato to vodka is about 4 to 1, so use four cups of Clamato to one cup vodka, then add about ¼ cup or more lime juice. Be sure to taste test it first and adjust the ingredients to your preference.
*A dash or two of Tabasco will ramp up the spicy, if your tastes lean that way.
